DS52 Tanpa PHD Terkilan & Hasrat

Banyak masalah yang hendak diutarakan tetapi rasanya tiada penyelesaian.

PhD sudah terlambat... nak buat kali kedua tidak dibenarkan tetapi ada pula diUTM yang dapat buat kali kedua dan sudah Profesor dan memgang jawatan (mungkin Fakulti berbeza polisi berbeza....bolehke?)

Supervision tidak boleh... co-supervisor boleh (bobjeng gratis)

High impact journal... bergantung pada research dan hasil kita... takde student macam mana... buat sendiri!!! dan collabirate to innovate

 2  Pemerhatian Saya on e-LPPT
a) Teaching  :     no problem.........cuma kalau boleh ajar postgraduate class ....... yang memang kita expert ............ terutamanya yang dah biasa ajar final year Undergraduate Subject............ harus dibenarkan ajar Master Subject.

b) Management : management position selalu tidak diberi keutamaan sedangkan pengalaman management kami ada.  Selalu menjadi penolong kepada sesuatu Mangement Task kerana tak ada PHD. 

c) Research Input : Ok tak ada PHD pun boleh dapat grant.

d) Research Output :

1. PHD : Ok............. boleh buat part time ......Kalau UTM tolong bayar lega sikit....... Kurangkan Load boleh membantu cepat graduate.

2. Supervision : Tak boleh supervise Master by Research.....kalau tak silap?
For markah RU only counted Supervision Master by Reserach.
For e-LPPT adakah Supervision Master by Taught di kira ?

Mekanisma membenarkan supervise Master by Reserach mungkin boleh di buat dengan mewajibkan DS52 tanpa PHD yang supervise Master by Reserach wajib ada seorang co supervisor from Graduate Faculty untuk membantu di segi reserach quality.

3. High Impact Journal : OK tak ada PHD boleh pusblish .... tak ada halangan..........Cuma slow pasal tak ada postgraduate research student

 3  Isu yang paling penting disini samada ada PhD atau Tidak adalahTolonglah e-LPPT punya sistem tu kurangkan masalah...rasanya dah beberapa tahun diperkenalkan, alih-alih masalah sama sahaja, download, data hilang, calculation tak betul, cara penilaian, pegawai penilai kurang jelas.

sebelum nak bincang isu-isu, cuba buat survey e-LPPT tu sendiri, bagus atau tidak, menyusah atau tidak, bila sistem masalah, akhirnya ada yang lambat naik gaji, ada yang dapat markah sepatutnya..

Isu-isu yang ada samada ada phD atau tidak bagi saya tak timbul jika semua diberi perhatian sama rata...bila dah jadi Senior Lecturer, you are now senior dah setaraf sama ada ada PhD atau tiada...so yang takde PhD tak payahlah lagi nak paksa-paksa buat PhD, mereka bukan tak layak, tetapi hanya tak berpeluang dan rezeki kan masing-masing, ada yang mudah, ada yang berliku-liku...

Cuma kalau takde PhD tak bagi supervise student master dan PhD, janganlah publication dijadikan KPI...yang ada PhD pun rasanya publish paper dari student2 juga..cannot work alone pun...

Last but not least bila buat satu garis panduan letaklah ayat ini...."Semuanya atas budi bicara jawatankuasa pentadbiran fakulti"...jadi insyallah, dengan kebijaksanaan dan budi bicara Jawatankuasa pentadbiran maka kita kurangkan  masalah-masalah insan teraniaya.

 4  Memandangkan saudara aktif berjuang.... Ada beberapa perkara yg saya tak jelas, mungkin telah dibincangkan.....

1. Kenaikan pangkat dari Senior ke PM
   a) 39 tahun ke bawah diwajibkan/bonus ada IR ?
   b) 40 tahun ke atas diwajibkan/bonus ada IR ?
   c) Kenaikan pangkat di fakulti nie ada kuota ke? (dgn anggapan butang dah boleh tekan)
   d) Kenaikan pangkat macam tak seragam...(It's Not What You Know, It's Who You Know...salah satu darinya)

Saya kurang arif untuk bertanya soalan-soalan di atas pada sesiapa yang sepatutnya....PK Zul lebih menonjol bab2 nie....

 5  First and foremost, thank you so much for your effort in requesting us to share our reservations and problems faced (if this can be accepted) regarding our application for the Associate Prof. post. 
Upon first look, the E-LPPT form is in favour of those with PhD only - with very little room given to some of us who do not have one. Amongst the things that could be looked into so that those without PhD will also stand a chance to apply could be: 
  1. Teaching and Supervision Component which carries an overall marks of 40%
  • I'm sure with our number of years of teaching, we will not have any problem meeting the cumulative number of credits required to earn us 40% out of the total 100% for the teaching and supervision section
  • The problem lies in the supervision part where marks will only be given for supervision of PhD students (40%) and Masters by FULL research only. I'm not sure about the other faculties but as far as my faculty is concerned, we were not even allowed to supervise Masters students by taught courses, let alone by full research! This means that, no matter how high your marks can be for the other 3 components, you will never stand the chance to apply for the Associate Prof. post because there is no way that we can ever score 80% (the minimum marks required for each of the FOUR components for us to be eligible to apply for the Assoc. Prof. post.
  • Suggestion 1- Could there be a possibility that more marks be awarded for the TEACHING component, or at least marks can be awarded for supervision of the undergraduates' final year project - may be 10 PSM = 1 Maters by research?
  1. Publication
  • Marks are only given for publication of books and publication in journals.
  • Perhaps our friends in the engineering and sciences do not face as much a problem to get their papers accepted for publication in journals but we in the social sciences are facing an uphill task to get our papers considered, let alone, accepted! 
  • Not only that it is difficult to get published, the impact factor is very much lower than in the sciences and engineering fields.
  • No marks are awarded for book chapters. Way back in late 2008, we were requested to turn our papers presented in seminars into book chapters and this had partially contributed some marks towards us getting our RU status.
  • No marks are awarded too for copyrights of online materials (of which UTM owns the copyrights) such as the materials that my team and I laboured on composing and writing them for the MyLinE website (http://myline.utm.my) which is now used by all the 20 IPTAs. To date we have contributed 125 copyrights of materials for MylinE website alone and yet no marks are given for the efforts and time taken to develop them.
  • Suggestion 2 - Some marks should be allocated for publication of book chapters and also for copyrighted online materials.
  1. Very little marks are allocated for Academic Leadership (Sanjungan dan Kepimpinan Akademik - 5%) and Service to the University and Community and Consultation (Khidmat kepada Universiti dan Masyarakat dan Perundingan - 10%)
  • Suggestion 3 - more marks should be allocated for these two components - perhaps increasing the former to 10% and the latter to 20%.
  • Suggestion 4 - the excess marks (lebihan markah) in the other components could be considered to make up for the lack or shortage of marks in the other components. For example, if an applicant have some excess marks for the component of Research and Publication but has scored below 80% for the Teaching ans Supervision component, the excess marks from Research and Publication could be used to make up for the shortage in Teaching and Supervision.
Just my 2 cents....... and I sincerely hope that something can be done to improve our E-LPPT so that it is a lot friendlier to many of us.

( saya minta nama saya dirahsiakan...)

Mungkin isu saya ni terkeluar sedikit tapi ianya perlu diketengahkan juga pada pandangan saya..bagi laluan kerjaya bagi pensyarah senior DS52..

Saya mewakili pensyarah DS52 yang senior yang baru tamat belajar PhD... memandangkan gaji yang dapat dah langgar dinding... so kami berhasrat untuk memohon P.M... yang jadi masalah sekarang, semua kriteria yang lain kami dah memenuhi... iaitu.. penyelidikan & penerbitan, Sanjungan akademik dan kepimpinan akademik, khidmat kepada universiti dan masyarakat & perundingan jaringan industri.( dimana semua markah adalah 90% ke atas).. yang jadi masalah ialah bahagian pengajaran dan penyeliaan...untuk bahagian ini.. pengajaran tiada masalah.. yang timbul masalah adalah bahagian penyeliaan kerana PSM tx dikira... yang dikira PhD dan Master ( by research dan telah lulus sahaja yang diambil kira)... memandangkan semasa tiada PhD kami tidak dibenarkan menyelia pelajar peringkat sarjana atau PhD...maka sekarang kami hanya mempunyai pelajar PhD dan master yang belum lagi graduate...dan ini tidak diambil kira oleh sistem..
So boleh tak kes-kes seperti kami di anggap sebagai special case kerana markah minimum 80% telah kami capai tetapi sistem online kenaikan pangkat masih lagi menunjukkan kami tidak layak utk memohon ( butang kilk: anda layak memohon tidak keluar) wpun markah minimum telah kami capai...
